Job summary

Mackay Radiology in Mackay is seeking a motivated Medical Receptionist to join our busy, patient-focused team. You will be the first point of contact, delivering welcoming, professional service and supporting day-to-day clinic operations.

The role offers permanent full-time hours, Monday to Friday with no weekend work, on-site in Mackay, and opportunities to learn about medical imaging, radiology terminology, and the patient journey.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within medical administration, radiology or another patient-facing healthcare environment.
• Understanding of medical terminology or an interest in developing knowledge.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with care and empathy.
• Excellent keyboard and data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Strong organisation and multitasking skills to manage priorities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• EFTPOS and cash-handling experience.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and providing professional, compassionate and efficient service.

• Managing incoming calls and responding to patient and referrer enquiries.
• Scheduling and managing appointments using our RIS system, Karisma.
• Providing patients with preparation requirements and appointment information.
• Coordinating appointments to support clinic workflows.
• Providing information regarding fees, Medicare rebates, DVA and third-party claims.
• Processing patient accounts, EFTPOS and cash payments.
• Completing end-of-day processes including billing and reporting.
• Collaborating with clinical, technical and administration teams to deliver an exceptional patient experience.

Are you an experienced Medical Receptionist or customer service professional looking to build your career in healthcare?

Mackay Radiology is seeking a motivated and patient-focused Medical Receptionist to join our busy and supportive team in Mackay.

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and positive experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our clinic.

Working alongside experienced Radiologists, technical and administration teams, you'll gain exposure across a broad range of medical imaging services and have the opportunity to further develop your skills within a specialist healthcare environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week Monday to Friday with no weekend work.

Reporting to the Clerical in Charge, your responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming patients and providing professional, compassionate and efficient service.
• Registering patients and processing relevant documentation.
• Managing incoming calls and responding to patient and referrer enquiries.
• Scheduling and managing appointments using our RIS system, Karisma.
• Providing patients with preparation requirements and relevant appointment information.
• Coordinating appointments to support efficient clinic workflows.
• Providing information regarding fees, Medicare rebates, DVA and third-party insurance claims.
• Processing patient accounts, EFTPOS and cash payments.
• Completing end-of-day processes including billing, Medicare and DVA batching, report follow-up and clinic closures.
• Working collaboratively with our clinical, technical and administration teams to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
