Project Support Officer – Community programs

We are seeking a passionate, organised and community-focused Project Support Officer Customer Experience to join our team.
About the Role
This is a unique role that combines frontline community engagement with project and administrative support.
As the welcoming face of GLALC, you will play a critical role in creating positive experiences for Members, Elders, community members, visitors and stakeholders. You will support Membership Services, coordinate community activities such as Yarn Up, assist with culturally appropriate responses to Sorry Business and provide high-quality customer service across the organisation.
The role also provides project support across GLALC programs and initiatives through administration, reporting, compliance tracking and coordination activities.
This position would suit someone who enjoys building relationships with people while also being highly organised and capable of managing administrative and project-based work.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Experience & Community Engagement
- Welcome and assist Members, Elders, community members and visitors.
- Maintain a professional, culturally safe and welcoming reception environment.
- Respond to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries.
- Support community engagement and member-focused activities.
- Ensure visitor registration and WHS sign-in requirements are completed.
- Membership Services
- Assist with membership enquiries and member communications.
- Maintain accurate membership records and databases.
- Support member meetings, community consultations and events.
- Yarn Up & Community Programs
- Support the planning and delivery of Yarn Up activities.
- Coordinate bookings, attendance records and participant information.
- Assist with community events, workshops and cultural activities.
- Sorry Business Support
- Assist with culturally respectful coordination and communication relating to Sorry Business.
- Support internal and community engagement activities as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Project Support & Administration
- Provide administrative support across projects and programs.
- Maintain project documentation, action registers and reporting records.
- Assist with meeting coordination, minutes and follow-up actions.
- Contribute to reporting, compliance and continuous improvement activities.
- Support data collection and organisational reporting requirements.
- General Administration
- Collect and record mail.
- Maintain call logs and organisational registers.
- Prepare correspondence, reports and documentation.
- Adhere to organisational policies, procedures and cultural protocols.

You understand the importance of community connection and are comfortable engaging respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Elders and families.
You are organised, proactive and able to balance community-facing responsibilities with strong administration and project support capability.
To Be Successful You Will Have
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and across cultures.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in administration, reception, customer service, community engagement or project support.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and manage confidential information.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- A professional, positive and can-do attitude.
- Willingness to learn and undertake professional development.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
- Willingness to obtain a National Police Check.
- Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
- Experience supporting community programs, stakeholder engagement or membership services.
- Experience in project administration, governance support or reporting.
- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, Community Services, Project Administration or a related field.
