The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is committed to advancing the rights, interests and aspirations of Aboriginal people throughout NSW. The Community Division supports Local Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs) to build strong, independent and sustainable communities through governance support, land activation and capacity building.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Project Officer to provide expert advice, project leadership and strategic support to LALCs across the Zone.
Reporting to the Operations Manager/Zone Director, you will play a key role in delivering strategic initiatives and ensuring NSWALC policies, procedures and legislative requirements are effectively implemented.
Supporting LALCs to operate effectively and in compliance with the Aboriginal Land Rights Act and NSWALC policies.
Assessing Community Land and Business Plans and providing specialist advice and guidance.
Assessing Community Benefit Schemes, including residential accommodation proposals.
Identifying and supporting land development, business and economic development opportunities.
Supporting cultural, social and heritage initiatives across the Zone.
Delivering governance and capability-building training to LALCs.
Providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to Project Officers and other team members.
Managing stakeholder relationships and representing NSWALC at meetings and forums.
Providing high-quality advice to management and internal stakeholders on complex matters.
You will bring:
Aboriginality (identified position).
Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in project, program or community management.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
Advanced project management and financial literacy skills.
Experience interpreting and implementing legislation, policy and governance frameworks.
Excellent communication, negotiation and facilitation skills.
Strong analytical, research and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
A current NSW Driver Licence and capacity to travel extensively throughout the Region.
Influence meaningful change across Aboriginal communities.
Lead strategic projects with visible community outcomes.
