Job summary

Aboriginal Land Council NSW – Batemans Bay NSW is seeking a motivated Project Officer to support Local Aboriginal Land Councils across the Zone with governance, compliance and project delivery.

You will provide practical guidance, assist with land activation, deliver training programs and reports, travel to communities, and build strong relationships with LALB boards and staff to advance Aboriginal self-determination.

Salary Band 3 - commencing base salary $80,000 per annum plus superannuation of 12%

Make a Difference for Aboriginal Communities

The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is the peak representative body for Aboriginal Land Councils across NSW. Through our Community Division, we work alongside Local Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs) to strengthen governance, build capability, activate land opportunities, and support social, cultural and economic self-determination.

We are seeking motivated and community-focused Project Officers to support LALCs across the Zone by providing advice, guidance, training and project support that contributes to stronger and more sustainable Aboriginal communities.

About the Role

As a Project Officer, you will support the Senior Project Officers and work directly with Local Aboriginal Land Councils to:

Provide advice and practical support on governance, compliance and operational matters.

Assist with Community Land and Business Plan assessments and implementation activities.

Support the delivery of training programs, workshops and capacity-building initiatives.

Assist in identifying economic development, land activation and community opportunities.

Build strong relationships with LALC Boards, members, staff and community stakeholders.

Prepare reports, research and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

Travel throughout the Zone to provide on-the-ground support to LALCs.

Work collaboratively with NSWALC teams to achieve positive outcomes for Aboriginal communities.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

Knowledge of Aboriginal communities, culture, values and contemporary issues.

Experience in community development, project administration, governance, compliance, stakeholder engagement or a related field.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Experience building positive stakeholder relationships.

A current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel.
