Job summary

Workpac Group is recruiting a Production Machine Operator for a leading Australian steel manufacturer in Brisbane. The role requires operating steel processing machines, setting up and adjusting equipment, loading raw materials, and inspecting finished products to ensure quality.

You will read and interpret production orders and drawings, and safely operate gantry cranes and forklifts where licensed. Two shift structures are available: morning and afternoon, with a Monday–Friday pattern.

Qualifications

• Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing/steel environment.
• Ability to read production schedules and technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail with focus on quality and accuracy.
• Forklift or Gantry ticket (highly desirable).
• Driver's Licence and reliable transport.
• Ability to pass Pre-Employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol screen.

Responsibilities

• Operate steel processing machinery such as Off Coil, Bending and Cutting machines.
• Set up, adjusting and monitoring machines.
• Load raw steel materials into machinery and production lines.
• Measure, inspect and verify steel products using measuring equipment and gauges.
• Interpret production orders, drawings and work instructions.
• Safely operate overhead gantry cranes and forklifts (where licensed).

What You Will Be Doing:

As a Production Machine Operator you will be required to work Monday – Friday, on either the morning or afternoon shift. You will be responsible for the below;

Operating steel processing machinery such as Off Coil, Bending and Cutting machines

Setting up, adjusting and monitoring machines

Loading raw steel materials into machinery and production lines

Measuring, inspecting and verifying steel products using measuring equipment and gauges

Interpreting production orders, drawings and work instructions

Safely operating overhead gantry cranes and forklifts (where licensed and required)

Morning Shift Structure;

Monday – Thursday 6AM-2PM | Friday 6AM – 12PM

Afternoon Shift Structure;

Monday – Thursday 2PM – 10PM | Friday 12PM – 8PM

What You Will Need:

Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing, production, steel, or industrial environment

Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work instructions and technical drawings

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.

Forklift or Gantry ticket (highly desirable)

Driver’ Licence + reliable transport

Ability to pass Pre-Employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol screen
