Job summary

Zoom Recruitment is seeking reliable Machine Operators to operate overhead cranes and handle steel products across Dandenong South and Noble Park sites. The role includes moving steel, assisting with inbound/outbound movements and supporting production teams in a safety-focused environment.

Previous steel or crane experience is valued, with forklift licencing beneficial. Candidates should be comfortable in an industrial setting and willing to learn site processes and safety SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Move and position steel using overhead cranes and mechanical equipment.

• Follow SOPs, exclusion zones and safety procedures.

Job description

Machine Operator / Overhead Crane Operator

Our client is a leading Australian manufacturer and supplier of steel products, with opportunities available across their Dandenong South Steel Centre and Noble Park Reinforcing operations.

They are currently seeking reliable and safety-focused Machine Operators / Overhead Crane Operators to join their teams across steel processing, production, overhead crane operations, material handling and dispatch.

Day Shift: 5:45am to 1:45pm

Night Shift: 9:45pm to 5:45am

Day Shift: 6am to 2:30pm

Key Duties

• Working within steel manufacturing and processing environments
• Moving and positioning steel products using overhead cranes and mechanical equipment
• Assisting with inbound and outbound steel movements
• Supporting machine operators and production processes
• Monitoring machinery and identifying production issues
• Preparing and staging steel products
• Pushing, pulling and realigning steel packs where required
• Tying, wiring and strapping finished steel packs
• Assisting with the preparation and loading of trucks
• Operating forklifts where required to assist with moving and loading finished steel products
• Using hooks and chains when positioning steel products
• Completing equipment pre-start checks where required
• Following exclusion zones, SOPs and site safety procedures

About You

We're looking for reliable, hands-on candidates who are comfortable working within an industrial environment and are interested in developing their skills within steel manufacturing.

Previous steel or overhead crane experience is highly regarded but isn't essential for all positions. Candidates with experience in manufacturing, production, machine operation, fabrication or industrial warehousing are also encouraged to apply.

A current forklift licence and previous forklift experience would also be beneficial, particularly for assisting with the movement and loading of finished steel products.
