Job summary

Workforce International is seeking experienced Machine Operators to join a well-established steel manufacturing business in Laverton North. You will operate heavy production machinery, monitor processes and ensure quality across a busy site.

Ideal candidates will have steel manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude and a proven safety record. This hands-on role offers ongoing work within a supportive production team and a commitment to safe practices.

Qualifications

Workforce is currently seeking experienced Machine Operators to join a well-established steel manufacturing business in Laverton North.

Our client is a global leader in engineered construction solutions, manufacturing high-quality steel and reinforcement products used across the building and construction industry. This is a genuine steel production role, working with steel reinforcing bar and heavy manufacturing equipment in a busy industrial environment.

We are looking for people who are mechanically minded, safety-focused and comfortable working around heavy steel products and machinery.

Machine Operator - Steel Production | Laverton North

About the Role

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring machinery used in the production and processing of steel reinforcing products.

Your duties will include:

• Operating steel production and processing machinery
• Operating machinery used to process and form steel reinforcing bar
• Monitoring machinery and production processes
• Loading and positioning steel products and materials
• Using overhead cranes to safely move steel products and materials
• Completing quality checks throughout the production process
• Setting and adjusting machinery as required
• Following production requirements and maintaining output standards
• Identifying and reporting any issues with machinery or production
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area
• Following all site safety procedures and production requirements
• Working as part of a close-knit production team

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Previous experience in steel manufacturing, steel production or machine operation
• Experience operating production machinery in a heavy industrial environment
• Experience working with steel reinforcing bar or similar steel products is highly regarded
• Experience operating an overhead crane is highly regarded
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and steel products
• Good attention to detail and quality
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
• Ability to follow instructions and production procedures
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Previous steel industry experience is highly regarded.

This is a hands‑on production position and would suit someone who enjoys working with machinery, steel and manufacturing equipment rather than a traditional warehouse environment.
