Job summary

Shangri-La the Marina, Cairns is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead the hotel’s procurement function. This role focuses on driving cost efficiency, supplier performance and procurement capability across the property.

You will work closely with the Hotel General Manager, Group Procurement and operating departments to achieve best commercial outcomes while maintaining luxury service standards. Strong negotiation and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain within hospitality.

About the Role

As Procurement Manager, you will lead and manage the hotel's procurement activities, ensuring purchasing practices are aligned with Shangri-La's Group and Regional procurement strategies, contracts and standards.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading and managing the hotel's Procurement function and developing the capability of the Procurement team.
• Partnering with operating departments to establish consistent product specifications for locally and regionally sourced products and services.
• Managing and evaluating supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, order completeness and service.
• Building strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers and identifying opportunities for supplier development, innovation and improved service.
• Driving cost savings and procurement efficiencies while maintaining established quality and service standards.
• Working with Group Procurement to source quotations and manage procurement requirements for hotel capital expenditure.

• Ensuring purchasing activities comply with Group, Regional and hotel policies, procedures and approved contracts.

• Supporting supplier assurance initiatives and sharing procurement best practices across the Shangri-La network.

• Ensuring the effective use of relevant procurement, Shared Service Portal (SSP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems.

The role also requires a strong understanding of relevant hotel standards, including ISO 14001, ISO 22000, HACCP, CSR, Environmental Management Systems, Food Safety and other applicable certified standards.

About You

We are looking for a procurement professional who combines commercial acumen with strong relationship-building skills and understands the importance of quality and service in a luxury hotel environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain management, preferably within hospitality or a similarly complex operating environment.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to identify cost-saving and value-creation opportunities.
• Demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships and evaluating supplier performance.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly in relation to pricing, purchasing and inventory.
• The ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and stakeholders.
• Strong communication, influencing and relationship-management skills.
• Experience leading, developing or coaching team members.
• A high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
• The ability to work within established procurement policies, contracts and governance frameworks.
• Experience with procurement, supply chain or purchasing systems and reporting.
• Knowledge of food safety, sustainability and relevant quality management standards would be advantageous.
