Job summary

Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns seeks a Duty Manager to join the Front Office team, overseeing guest services and daily operations in a luxury five-star hotel. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you will manage rosters, guest check-in/out, and lead Front Office staff while ensuring safety and service excellence across the property.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel front office operations.
• Ability to manage rosters, costings and forecasting.
• Excellent guest service and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Opera PMS software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with management of all hotel operational departments as required.
• Manage rosters, costings and forecasting.
• Develop Front Office staff and ensure succession planning.
• Process check-ins and check-outs in accordance with procedures.
• Support all hotel areas including Food & Beverage to prevent issues.
• Respond promptly to guest requests and lead by example.
• Ensure health and safety for patrons, guests and staff.
• Oversee the guest journey from reservation to departure.

At Shangri-La, The Marina, Cairns, we have an excellent opportunity for a DutyManager to join our Front Office Department.

About the Hotel

Located beside the Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns, Shangri-La the Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel featuring 255 guest rooms, 19 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities.

The Role

Reporting to the Front Office Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure a high level of guest service at all times across the hotel.

As Duty Manager, your tasks and responsibilities will consist of, but will not be limited to the following:

• Assist with the management of all operational departments as required
• Management of roster, costingsand forecasting
• Professional development of our Front Office All Rounders & Porters to ensure strong succession planning.
• Process and assist with check-in, check-out of guests, ensuring all procedures are adhered too.
• Assist in all areas of the hotel to eliminate potential issues including Food & Beverage operations
• Immediately attending to guest requests, and leading by example to other members of the team by being proactive and resourceful.
• Responsibility for the health and safety of all patrons, guests and staff members.
• Overseeing of whole guest experience from Reservation through to departure.

Your ability to ‘delight’ our guests with your natural bright and bubbly customer service style is what sets you apart from the rest. You are naturally a confident person who is able to approach people and initiate conversation.

You will have the ability to manage your time and can handle juggling numerous tasks at once and have experience in Opera, Microsoft Word and Outlook.
