Job summary

Arana Hills Medical Centre is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a long-standing private billing general practice in Brisbane’s north-west. You will oversee reception, nursing support and GP collaboration, driving quality care and sustainable practice performance.

The role emphasizes workforce planning, accreditation readiness, policy development and effective use of practice tech.

Qualifications

• Previous management experience within General Practice.
• Strong knowledge of private billing General Practice operations.
• Experience with recruitment, onboarding, rostering, performance management and staff development.
• Sound knowledge of Medicare, HPOS, PRODA and general practice billing processes.
• Experience with RACGP accreditation, compliance and quality improvement.
• Experience with Best Practice Premier and HotDoc, or similar practice-management systems.
• Ability to build effective relationships with GPs, staff, patients, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Experience with Tanda, Cubiko, Primary Sense or similar business and practice platforms would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operational management of the practice.
• Support GPs, nurses and reception staff while maintaining quality care and sustainable operations.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, rostering, performance management and staff development.
• Coordinate GP and registrar recruitment activities.
• Develop GP recruitment strategies including outreach and posting.
• Lead RACGP standards compliance and accreditation preparation.
• Develop and implement practice policies and procedures.
• Oversee infection control, WHS, risk management and data integrity.
• Coordinate clinics, audits and quality-improvement activities.
• Implement Medicare/general practice program changes (MyMedicare, Chronic Condition Management).
• Oversee billing workflows, HPOS/PRODA processes and third-party claims.
• Provide guidance on billing, workflows and regulatory changes.
• Oversee budgets, banking, debtor management and stock ordering.
• Review suppliers and costs to identify efficiencies.
• Evaluate technology and workflow improvements.
• Manage communications and GP recruitment marketing.
• Maintain relationships with patients, suppliers and providers.
• Troubleshoot operational, administrative and tech issues.
