Job summary

Arana Hills Medical Centre in Brisbane’s north-west seeks an experienced Practice Manager to lead day-to-day operations, support GPs, nurses and reception staff, and drive quality care in a private billing general practice. You will manage recruitment, rostering, accreditation readiness, policy development, and budget oversight, leveraging technology to streamline workflows.

Qualifications

• Previous management experience within General Practice.
• Strong knowledge of private billing General Practice operations.
• Demonstrated leadership of reception, nursing or multidisciplinary support teams.
• Experience with recruitment, onboarding, rostering, performance management and staff development.
• Sound knowledge of Medicare, HPOS, PRODA and general practice billing processes.
• Experience with RACGP accreditation, compliance and quality improvement.
• Strong organisational, communication and time-management skills.
• Confidence managing competing priorities and operational challenges.
• Be open and confident in the use of technology including apps and programs: To-Do, Teams, SharePoint, 3CX.
• A reliable, approachable and solutions-focused leadership style.
• Experience with Best Practice Premier and HotDoc, or similar practice-management systems.
• The ability to build effective relationships with GPs, staff, patients, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Experience with Tanda, Cubiko, Primary Sense or similar business and practice platforms would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operational management of the practice.
• Support GPs, nurses and reception staff while maintaining a strong focus on quality care, continuity and sustainable practice operations.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, rostering, performance management, staff development and workforce planning.
• Coordinate GP and registrar recruitment activities.
• Develop GP recruitment strategies, including direct candidate outreach, agency liaison, advertising and promotion of the practice.
• Promote the practice model, clinical autonomy and opportunities for GPs to develop special interests.
• Lead RACGP Standards compliance and accreditation preparation.
• Develop, maintain and implement practice policies and procedures.
• Oversee infection prevention and control, workplace health and safety, risk management and data integrity.
• Coordinate clinical and administrative audits and quality-improvement activities.
• Implement Medicare and general practice program changes, including MyMedicare and GP Chronic Condition Management Plan requirements.
• Oversee billing workflows, HPOS and PRODA processes, third-party claims and relevant practice communications.
• Provide practical guidance and education to GPs and staff regarding billing, workflow, policies and regulatory changes.
• Oversee operational budgets, banking, debtor management, stock ordering and general financial administration.
• Review suppliers, services and operating costs to identify efficiencies and value.
• Evaluate and implement practice technology, systems and workflow improvements.
• Oversee practice communications, service promotion and GP recruitment marketing.
• Manage facilities, room use, stock, suppliers, contractors and operational disruptions.
• Maintain effective relationships with patients, GPs, specialists, pharmacies, pathology and radiology providers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot operational, administrative, staffing and technology issues as they arise.
