Job summary

Calvary St Catherine's Retirement Community in Berri, South Australia, is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Worker to join our aged care team. You will provide resident-centred care, support daily hygiene, mobility, and daily routines within an established framework and alongside nursing staff.

Respect for privacy and dignity, teamwork, and a commitment to compassionate care across Home, Residential Aged Care and community services are essential in this mission-based organisation.

Qualifications

• Certificate III Aged Care or Individual Support is essential.
• Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal.
• Working knowledge of WHS and Infection Control.
• A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver personal care tasks within an established framework (daily hygiene such as showering, shaving, dressing, mouth and eye care).
• Observe residents' condition and report changes to the Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse and complete documentation.
• Respect residents' privacy, dignity and confidentiality when providing services.
• Assist residents who require mobility assistance per care plan, encouraging ambulation and independence.
• Respect residents and involve them in decisions about their day-to-day routine.

About the role

This is a rewarding, hands on role that will give you the opportunity to positively impact on the lives of our residents. Care Service Employees work within the aged care team to promote the delivery of quality care to residents and their families, demonstrating competence in the provision of resident-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

• Work within an established and agreed framework to deliver a range of personal care tasks, including, but not limited to daily hygiene, for example: showering; shaving; dressing; mouth and eye care
• Observe the condition of residents and report any changes to the Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse, Facility Manager or appropriate person as well as completing the required documentation
• Respect each person’s privacy, dignity and confidentiality when providing services for residents
• Assist residents who require assistance with mobility as per care plan. Residents are to be encouraged to remain ambulatory and independent
• Respect each resident and ensure that they are treated with dignity and given opportunities for making decisions particularly concerning their day to day routine
