Job summary

Michael Page is partnering with a well-established aged care organisation in Melbourne to recruit a Payroll Officer for a 6–8 month contract during a major payroll transformation. You will handle high-volume data entry, maintain employee records, and support system testing and deployment while ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing.

  • Previous payroll administration or payroll officer experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and payroll data accuracy.
  • Experience working in high-volume environments.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and work autonomously.
  • Experience with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exposure to payroll projects, testing, or system implementations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a major payroll transformation and systems implementation project.
  • Performing high-volume payroll data entry and employee record maintenance.
  • Ensuring payroll data is accurate, complete, and updated within agreed timeframes.
  • Assisting with payroll system testing, validation, and implementation activities.
  • Supporting the rollout of new payroll metrics, reporting, and process improvements.
  • Investigating and resolving payroll data discrepancies.
  • Maintaining employee records across payroll, HRIS, and workforce management systems.
  • Assisting with reconciliations, data audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Liaising with Payroll, HR, and operational stakeholders to ensure data integrity.
  • Providing administrative support to the payroll team during a critical project period.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and system optimisation activities.
  • Ensuring strict confidentiality and compliance with payroll policies and procedures.

Job Description

Reporting into the Payroll Team Lead, the successful Payroll Officer will be responsible for:

The Successful Applicant

A successful Payroll Officer should have:

  • Previous payroll administration or payroll officer experience.

  • Experience with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Preceda, UKG, or Humanforce is advantageous.
