Job summary

Coast & Country Primary Care Bathurst NSW is seeking a Mental Health Intake Officer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering Psychological Therapies for Underserviced Populations across Bathurst and Orange region.

You will be the first point of contact for consumers, carers and referrers, coordinating referrals, screening eligibility, triage, and ensuring timely access to services while maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in health administration, intake, referral management or mental health service support.
• Eligibility to work in Australia permanently and WWCC/CRC requirements.
• Experience with client intake, referral pathways and waitlist management is desirable.
• Proficient in clinical or practice management systems (e.g., Best Practice, Nookal).

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for consumers, carers, referrers and stakeholders.
• Receive, process and coordinate referrals and record them promptly.
• Undertake initial intake, eligibility screening and triage.
• Maintain regular contact with consumers awaiting service allocation.
• Coordinate waitlist management and ensure accurate records.
• Support liaison with GPs, hospitals and local health services.

Skills

Experience in health administration

High communication skills

Education

Certificate III in Business Administration, Medical Administration, Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Peer Work, Psychosocial Support or equivalent experience.
