Job summary

INTEC Energy Solutions, a leading renewable energy company, seeks a Mechanical Site Engineer for the Lower Wonga BESS & Solar PV project in the Gympie region, Queensland. This hands-on, on-site position supports construction and commissioning activities with a focus on mechanical system delivery.

You will oversee mounting structures, trackers and module installations, read and interpret drawings, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

As our Australian operations continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Mechanical Site Engineer to join our team at the Lower Wonga BESS & Solar PV project in the Gympie region of Queensland.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, this is a hands-on site role where you will support the construction and commissioning of the project. You will focus on mechanical works including mounting structures, tracking systems, and module installation, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect mechanical works on site, including the installation of module mounting structures, trackers, and modules.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications, and ensure accurate implementation by subcontractors and site crews in line with approved designs, Australian Standards, and project requirements.
• Coordinate and supervise mechanical subcontractors and labour resources, monitoring progress against the project schedule and reporting any deviations.
• Perform or assist with mechanical commissioning activities.
• Identify and manage site issues that impact quality, safety, or schedule, and assist in reviewing and resolving technical queries and RFIs.
• Maintain accurate records of mechanical works, inspections, and tests, while promoting health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting ways to enhance site practices, processes, and cost efficiency without compromising quality.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally in renewable energy, battery storage, substations, or electrical distribution.
• Site-based experience with mechanical systems on construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to review design drawings, issue non-conformances, RFIs, and early notices, and manage contract compliance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage unforeseen mechanical site challenges.
• High commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Construction Induction White Card and a current driver's licence.
• RPEQ Certificate is highly desirable
