Job summary

Lead Mine Scheduling Engineer at Prominent Hill within BHP’s Copper South Australia portfolio. You will shape underground schedules, drive long-term planning and work across geology, geotechnical, ventilation and operations to deliver value.

You will oversee a team of scheduling engineers, remain hands-on with Deswik, and influence development sequencing, stope design and extraction while supporting site expansion and safety priorities.

Qualifications

• Expertise in underground mine scheduling and planning within a production mining environment.
• Advanced capability using Deswik software and scheduling tools to optimise outcomes.
• Understanding of underground mining value drivers: development sequencing, stope design and extraction sequencing, drill and blast, backfill, ventilation and equipment productivity.
• Experience mentoring, coaching or leading technical professionals and contributing to team capability development.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence decisions across multiple disciplines.
• Tertiary qualifications in Mining, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Solid experience in underground mining operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach scheduling engineers, fostering a culture of quality planning and technical excellence.
• Develop and maintain integrated underground mine schedules that support operational delivery and long-term objectives.
• Collaborate with geology, geotechnical, ventilation, operations and planning teams to ensure practical, aligned schedules.
• Provide technical leadership and SME in underground scheduling practices and methodologies.
• Apply innovative thinking and continuous improvement to planning processes and outcomes.
• Remain actively involved in Deswik scheduling activities while contributing to strategic direction.
• Support planning decisions that optimise production, development sequencing and value generation.
