Job summary

Lead Geotechnical Engineer at Prominent Hill within BHP Group, responsible for directing a team delivering geotechnical services for underground mining operations. The role partners with operational, planning and technical stakeholders to manage risk and enable safe, sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

Underground mining geotechnical experience required.
Lead and mentor engineers and technicians.
Strong safety and risk management background.
Experience with geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate GCMP, including data collection and design.
Ensure geotechnical management plans are current and compliant.
Manage geotechnical databases and data integrity.
Conduct internal audits of geotechnical practices.
Oversee TARPs and risk assessments.
Provide mentoring to graduates and junior staff.
Collaborate with stakeholders on geotechnical projects.
Communicate hazards and performance outcomes clearly.
Drive continuous improvement of systems and practices.
Lead underground geotechnical projects delivering on safety, schedule, quality and budget.
Prepare technical reports, scopes of work and recommendations.
Contribute to stope design and underground mining activities.
