Sheet Metal Solutions in Riverstone, NSW, is seeking a Senior Laser Programmer / CAD Draftsman to join our team. You will translate customer drawings into production-ready designs and programs, focusing on efficient laser cutting, bending and fabrication.
The role requires strong sheet metal manufacturing knowledge, CAD programming experience and the ability to work closely with production to ensure accuracy and on-time manufacturing.

- Experience with laser cutting, CNC bending and sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience programming CNC laser cutting machines and using TRUMPF software.
Responsibilities
- CAD drafting and sheet metal design.
- Prepare and process customer drawings for manufacture.
- Program and nest for TRUMPF laser cutting machines.
- Prepare and process production work orders.
- Review drawings, DXF files and customer specifications.
- Develop parts and assemblies for laser cutting and bending.
- Ensure designs and programs enable efficient manufacture.
- Work closely with laser, bending and fabrication teams.
- Identify manufacturing issues before production.
- Assist with material utilisation, nesting and production efficiency.
- Maintain accurate job and drawing information.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior Laser Programmer / CAD Draftsman to join our team.
This is an important role within our business, working closely with production to take customer drawings and requirements through to accurate, efficient manufacture.

Your responsibilities will include:
- CAD drafting and sheet metal design
- Preparing and processing customer drawings for manufacture
- Programming and nesting for TRUMPF laser cutting machines
- Preparing and processing production work orders
- Reviewing drawings, DXF files and customer specifications
- Developing parts and assemblies for laser cutting and bending
- Ensuring parts are designed and programmed for efficient manufacture
- Working closely with laser, bending and fabrication teams
- Identifying potential manufacturing issues before jobs reach production
- Assisting with material utilisation, nesting and production efficiency
- Maintaining accurate job and drawing information
We are looking for someone with a strong background in sheet metal manufacturing, CAD programming or mechanical/engineering drafting.
Ideally, you will have:
- Strong experience in laser cutting, CNC bending and sheet metal fabrication
- Experience programming CNC laser cutting machines
- Experience with TRUMPF software highly regarded
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
- Strong understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Understanding of tolerances, materials and fabrication requirements
- Ability to take a job from customer drawing through to production
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
A mechanical engineering, drafting or relevant trade/manufacturing background will be highly regarded.
