Job summary

Sheet Metal Solutions NSW is seeking a reliable Trades Assistant / Factory Hand to join our busy workshop. The role covers loading/unloading materials, organizing and packing customer orders, and supporting laser cutting, CNC bending and fabrication processes.

We offer a day-shift, full-time position with training and development across our sheet-metal machinery, and opportunities to advance as your skills grow. A forklift licence is highly regarded but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience in sheet metal, laser cutting, CNC bending, fabrication, manufacturing or warehousing is preferred.
• Ability to follow job sheets and check part quantities.
• Ability to prioritise customer orders and work efficiently in a busy workshop.
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.

We specialise in precision sheet-metal manufacturing, including laser cutting, CNC bending, rolling and fabrication, working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Trades Assistant / Factory Hand to join our workshop team.

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Trades Assistant / Factory Hand to join our workshop team.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy manufacturing environment.

Your main responsibilities will be loading and unloading materials, organising and packing customer orders, while also assisting our team with laser cutting, CNC bending and general sheet-metal production.

For the right person, we are happy to provide training and develop your skills across our machinery and manufacturing processes.

Key Duties

• Loading and unloading sheet metal and other materials

• Sorting, packing and preparing customer orders for dispatch

• Checking parts and quantities against job paperwork

• Organising laser-cut components into the correct jobs

• Receiving and storing incoming materials

• Assisting with loading customer and delivery vehicles

• Assisting with the operation of laser cutting machines

• Loading and unloading sheets and components from the laser

• Assisting with CNC press brake / bending operations

• Deburring, linishing and finishing components

• Drilling, tapping and saw cutting

• Moving materials and jobs throughout the workshop

• Assisting tradespeople and machine operators as required

• Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking

• Organised and able to prioritise customer orders

• Careful and accurate when sorting and packing components

• Able to follow job sheets and check part quantities

• Mechanically minded and interested in machinery

• Comfortable using hand and power tools

• Comfortable with manual handling and physical workshop duties

• Willing to learn and take on additional responsibilities

• Safety and quality focused

• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Previous experience in sheet metal, laser cutting, CNC bending, fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or warehousing would be highly regarded.

A forklift licence is highly regarded.
