The role starts as a part-time position (3 days per week) with a path to full-time as projects grow, working closely with estimating and workshop teams to ensure manufacturability and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven CAD proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360 with sheet metal.
• Knowledge of CNC laser cutting, press brake, welding tolerances.
• Ability to interpret architectural elevations and structural plans.
• Experience with light-to-medium gauge metals.
• Clear verbal and written English to brief the factory.

Responsibilities

• CAD Modeling & Production Detailing: 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks or Fusion 360 with sheet metal modules.
• Machine-Ready Outputs: Produce flat patterns and DXF files for CNC laser cutting and bend sequences.
• Architectural Blueprint Analysis: Extract fabrication dimensions from drawings and project specs.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Align with estimating and workshop teams on material, manufacturability, and lead times.
• Client Briefing & Design Verification: Liaise with builders, architects, and installers to confirm shop drawings.

Metal Master Roofing & Cladding Supplies is a specialist manufacturer and fabricator delivering architectural metal roofing, custom cladding, and bespoke sheet metal solutions across Sydney.

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Draftsperson proficient in SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360 with hands-on sheet metal knowledge. In this role, you will bridge the gap between architectural concepts and our factory floor—turning client blueprints into production-ready flat patterns, DXF files, folding programs, and assembly drawings for our CNC fiber laser cutting, press brake, and welding teams.

Initially offered as a part-time role (3 days per week), this position is expected to transition into a full-time role as project pipelines expand.

Key Responsibilities

CAD Modeling & Production Detailing: Generate accurate 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks or Fusion 360, utilising sheet metal modules (bend deductions, K-factors, corner reliefs).

Machine-Ready Outputs: Produce clean flat patterns, nested DXF files for CNC laser cutting, and detailed bend sequences/drawings for press brake operators.

Architectural Blueprint Analysis: Review, interpret, and cross-reference architectural/structural drawings and project specifications to extract exact fabrication dimensions and cladding/roofing profiles.

Cross-Department Collaboration: Work alongside our estimating and workshop fabrication teams to verify material optimisation, manufacturability, and lead times.

Client Briefing & Design Verification: Liaise directly with builders, architects, and installers to clarify technical details, resolve site measurement discrepancies, and confirm shop drawing sign-offs.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven CAD Proficiency: Demonstrated experience modeling in SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360, specifically using dedicated sheet metal environments.

• Fabrication Knowledge: Sound understanding of metal manufacturing processes, including CNC laser cutting, press brake forming, punch tooling, welding tolerances, and assembly fit-ups.

• Architectural Comprehension: Ability to interpret architectural elevations, sections, and structural framing plans.

• Material Familiarity: Experience working with light-to-medium gauge metals (pre-painted aluminium, Colorbond steel, zinc, copper, mild steel, and stainless steel) is highly regarded.

• Communication & Coordination: Clear verbal and written English to brief the factory floor and discuss scope variations with clients.
