Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC fibre laser cutting machines.
• Load and unload sheet metal (steel, stainless steel, aluminium).
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders and production documentation.
• Verify materials, sheet thicknesses and job requirements prior to cutting.
• Load and run CNC laser cutting programs.
• Monitor machine operation and cutting quality throughout production.
• Make machine adjustments to maintain cut quality.
• Carry out first-off and in-process quality inspections.
• Identify and report machine, cutting or production issues.
• Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
• Complete production documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.

An established Australian advanced manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Laser Operator to join its manufacturing team.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced operator who can confidently set up and operate CNC fibre laser cutting equipment, work from engineering drawings and production documentation, and produce quality components to required specifications.

The position offers stable, long-term employment working with modern CNC fibre laser cutting equipment in an established manufacturing environment.

The Role

• Set up and operate CNC fibre laser cutting machines
• Load and unload steel, stainless steel and aluminium sheet
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders and production documentation
• Verify materials, sheet thicknesses and job requirements prior to cutting
• Load and run CNC laser cutting programs
• Monitor machine operation and cutting quality throughout production
• Make machine adjustments where required to maintain cut quality
• Carry out first-off and in-process quality inspections
• Identify and report machine, cutting or production issues
• Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance
• Complete production documentation accurately
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience operating CNC laser cutting machines
• Ability to set up and operate CNC laser cutting equipment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good understanding of sheet materials and thicknesses
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
• Reliable and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Commitment to workplace safety and established manufacturing procedures

Experience in sheet metal fabrication or general manufacturing would also be advantageous.

Overhead crane experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
