Job summary

Unisys is seeking an IT Field Engineer to deliver hands-on technical support primarily on client sites in the Sydney CBD. You’ll diagnose hardware issues on desktops, laptops, printers and network devices, perform break‑fixes, and manage installations and upgrades with a focus on professional onsite service.

You will handle service requests, imaging devices, and work with enterprise IT environments within a global technology organisation.

Qualifications

• Onsite or field IT support experience required.
• Solid knowledge of desktop, laptop hardware and peripherals.
• Ability to diagnose hardware and software issues and restore functionality.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on IT support across client locations within the Sydney CBD.
• Diagnose and resolve desktop, laptop, printer, server and network faults.
• Perform hardware repairs, component replacements and preventative maintenance.
• Manage service requests and provide onsite support to end users.
• Install, configure, upgrade and re-image computers and equipment.
• Complete installs, moves, adds and changes within client environments.
• Troubleshoot hardware, OS and connectivity issues.
• Investigate recurring issues and identify solutions.
• Coordinate with Service Desk, vendors and internal tech teams.
• Maintain service records, documentation and asset information.
• Deliver professional customer service throughout client interactions.

About the role

As an IT Field Engineer, you will provide experienced, hands‑on technical support primarily across client sites within the Sydney CBD. You will diagnose and resolve hardware issues involving desktops, laptops, printers and network devices whilst providing professional onsite support directly to end users. The role will involve managing service requests, performing hardware break‑fix work, completing installations and upgrades, re‑imaging devices and resolving technical issues that cannot be addressed remotely. Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on IT support across client locations primarily within the Sydney CBD
• Diagnose and resolve desktop, laptop, printer, server and network‑related faults
• Perform hardware repairs, component replacements and preventative maintenance
• Manage technical service requests and provide onsite support to end users
• Install, configure, upgrade and re‑image computers and associated equipment
• Complete installs, moves, adds and changes within client environments
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating system and connectivity issues
• Investigate recurring technical issues and identify appropriate solutions
• Coordinate with Service Desk teams, vendors and internal technical specialists
• Maintain accurate service records, documentation and asset information
• Deliver professional and responsive customer service throughout every client interaction

What we're looking for

• Demonstrated experience providing onsite, desktop or field‑based IT support
• Strong knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware, operating systems and peripherals
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues
• Experience with device installation, configuration, upgrades and re‑imaging
• Working knowledge of printers, network devices and server hardware
• Ability to manage service requests and work independently within client environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication, documentation and customer‑service skills
• Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
• Unrestricted Australian working rights, as required for security‑clearance eligibility
• A+ certification or an equivalent technical qualification is highly regarded
