Job summary

Modern Star is seeking an experienced IT Desktop Support Engineer to join our Corporate IT team and provide Tier 2 support across Brisbane operations. You will troubleshoot Windows 11 issues, manage devices with Intune, and collaborate closely with end users and the IT team.

You will help ensure devices are secure, compliant, and up to date, while participating in incident reviews and knowledge-base updates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on desktop/end-user computing or IT support experience.
• Strong Windows 11 desktop/laptop support skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Active Directory.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
• Understanding of endpoint security, patching, and device compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on and remote Tier 2 IT support across Brisbane sites.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Windows 11 desktop/laptop issues and applications.
• Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Active Directory environments.
• Manage devices using Microsoft Intune, including enrolment and compliance.
• Install, configure and maintain laptops, desktops, and peripherals; complete moves/adds/changes.
• Maintain IT asset records and support provisioning through retirement.
• Collaborate with the central IT team and contribute to root-cause analysis.

Modern Star is looking for an experienced IT Desktop Support Engineer to join our Corporate IT team and provide hands-on technology support across our Brisbane operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, working directly with people and taking ownership of technology outcomes.

You will work across our corporate offices, distribution centres, retail and light manufacturing environments, providing Tier 2 support and acting as the local escalation point for more complex IT issues.

You will play an important role in strengthening our Microsoft Intune and endpoint management capabilities, helping ensure our devices are secure, compliant, up to date and properly managed.

What you will be doing

Provide hands-on and remote Tier 2 support across our Brisbane sites.

Troubleshoot and resolve Windows 11 desktop, laptop and application issues.

Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Active Directory environments.

Manage and support devices through Microsoft Intune, including enrolment, compliance, configuration and the remediation of non-compliant or unreported devices.

Install, configure and maintain laptops, desktops, mobile devices and peripherals.

Complete hardware installs, moves, adds and changes.

Maintain accurate IT asset records — including ownership, location, warranty and lifecycle — and support devices from provisioning through to secure retirement.

Support warehouse all-in-one PCs, RF/barcode scanning devices, printers and shop-floor technology, coordinating on-site vendor break-fix where required.

Contribute to root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews for recurring local issues, and to continuous improvement.

Create and maintain knowledge-base articles and site documentation for end users and the wider IT team.

Work closely with the central IT Service Desk and wider Corporate IT team.

Build strong relationships with users and become a trusted local technology partner.

What we are looking for

You have demonstrated experience in a hands-on desktop, end-user computing, or IT support role, ideally with 3+ years of experience.

You will also bring:

Strong Windows 11 desktop and laptop support skills.

Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.

Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Active Directory.

Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.

An understanding of endpoint security, patching, device compliance, least privilege and secure configuration.

Familiarity with ITIL-aligned incident, request and change processes.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.

The ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative IT team.

A current Australian driver's licence and reliable transport.

It would be great if you also have

Experience supporting warehouse, distribution, manufacturing or retail environments.

Experience with RF or barcode-scanning devices.

Experience supporting iOS/iPadOS and Android devices.

Exposure to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

Experience with Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.

Experience with IT asset management and audits.

Location and work environment

This Brisbane-based role spans our Brendale sites (distribution centres and corporate office) and our Aspley/Zillmere site (retail and light manufacturing). Regular travel between these sites is expected, so a current Australian driver’s licence and reliable transport are essential.

The role involves regular work in distribution centres and manufacturing environments. It requires compliance with site safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment such as high-visibility clothing and safety footwear. It involves manual handling of IT equipment and working safely around operational plant and machinery.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will have the opportunity to work across different environments, interact with people at all levels of the business and take ownership of meaningful technology improvements.

You will be part of a supportive Corporate IT team while having the autonomy to make a real difference across our Brisbane operations.
