Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Yarram VIC is seeking an Inclusive Education Learning Specialist to lead a team supporting students with disabilities and additional needs across Year 7–12. The role focuses on applying evidence-based psychological learning techniques to increase student outcomes and to develop plans that promote access to mainstream curriculum.

The IELS works with the Teaching and Learning Principal, Wellbeing Coordinator, and DIPC to implement Individual Education Plans,

Qualifications

• SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching and literacy/numeracy across the curriculum.
• SC2 Demonstrated expertise in high impact teaching strategies and using data to inform practice.
• SC3 Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning and provide feedback to students and parents.
• SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and collaborative relationships with students, families and staff.
• SC5 Demonstrated alignment with Department values and capacity to support professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records and communicate with families and staff in a timely manner.
• Lead and participate in professional learning and SWPBS initiatives.
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
• Coordinate support from allied health and integration staff to assist students with disabilities and additional needs.
• Support staff in SWPBS practices and in implementing intervention strategies.
• Ensure access to mainstream curriculum and enrichment opportunities for all students.
