Job summary

Bryant Building Contractors is expanding into the Northern Rivers region of NSW and seeks an experienced HSEQ Advisor to support growth and project delivery. You will work with project teams to implement and manage health, safety, environmental and quality requirements across sites, providing practical guidance, audits and continuous improvement.

You will promote a positive HSEQ culture, liaise with managers, supervisors and subcontractors, and ensure compliance with Bryant’s Integrated

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience in building/construction HSEQ roles.
• Sound knowledge of WHS, env regs and NSW codes of practice.
• Experience with quality, environmental and safety management systems.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills.

The Role

As part of Bryant’s planned expansion into the Northern Rivers region, we are seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor to support our growth and future project delivery in the area.

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, you will work closely with our project teams to support the implementation and ongoing management of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements across project sites. You will provide practical HSEQ guidance and support, conduct site inspections and audits, assist with risk management and incident investigations, and help ensure compliance with Bryant’s Integrated Management System, relevant legislation and project requirements.

You will play an important role in promoting a positive HSEQ culture across our projects, working collaboratively with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, employees and subcontractors to maintain strong safety, environmental and quality outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support project teams with the implementation and ongoing management of Bryant’s Integrated Management System (BIMS) and site-specific management plans.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor HSEQ compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Assist with project risk assessments, hazard identification and the implementation of appropriate controls.
• Review site-specific Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and monitor subcontractor compliance and performance.
• Coordinate and deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and HSEQ discussions as required.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to support effective HSEQ management across project sites.
• Monitor site activities for compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice and Bryant requirements.
• Assist with incident reporting and investigations, including identifying and following up corrective actions.
• Support emergency response planning and conduct drills as required.
• Maintain accurate HSEQ records, documentation and reporting.
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and relevant authorities regarding HSEQ matters as required.
• Monthly HSEQ reporting to HSEQ Manager.
• Promote a positive HSEQ culture by providing practical guidance and encouraging proactive reporting and management of hazards and risks.
• Challenge unsafe behaviours and practices and support continuous improvement across project sites.

About You

• Minimum five years’ experience in the building and construction industry in a similar HSEQ role.
• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent.
• Sound knowledge of relevant WHS and environmental legislation, regulations, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice , particularly NSW legislation.
• Knowledge and experience working with quality, environmental and safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of risk management, incident investigation and site-based HSEQ requirements.
• Experience using HammerTech or a similar HSEQ management platform will be highly regarded.
• Experience using Procore or a similar construction management platform will also be advantageous.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with project teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Strong document control, record management and reporting skills.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing project environment.
• A proactive approach to promoting a positive HSEQ culture.
• Current Driver Licence and Construction White Card.
• Ability to travel as required.
