Job summary

Bryant Building Contractors, a leading building and construction contractor, seeks an experienced Leading Hand to support delivery of projects during expansion into the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. The Role

As part of Bryant's planned expansion into the Northern Rivers region, we are seeking an experienced Leading Hand to support the successful delivery of our building and construction projects.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership and guidance to trades and site personnel, helping to coordinate daily construction activities and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

This is a hands-on supervisory role suited to an experienced tradesperson who is comfortable taking responsibility on site, providing direction to a work crew and stepping up to coordinate the team independently when required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily work activities and provide direction to trades and site personnel in accordance with project requirements and direction from the Site Supervisor or Project Manager.
• Provide hands-on leadership to the work crew and step up to direct site activities in the Site Supervisor's absence when required.
• Assist with maintaining construction quality and ensure works are completed in accordance with project specifications and requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture and proactively identify and address hazards, unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices.
• Ensure Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), permits and other required safety documentation are in place and followed.
• Conduct daily pre-start meetings and assist with toolbox talks and site safety discussions.
• Complete and maintain required site documentation, including site diaries, pre-starts, permits, toolbox records and timesheets.
• Monitor site activities and take appropriate action where safety, quality or compliance standards are not being met.
• Assist with incident reporting and investigations and support site emergency response requirements.
• Ensure plant and equipment are operated safely and in accordance with relevant requirements.
• Mentor and support site personnel, promoting positive performance, teamwork and accountability.
• Comply with Bryant's Integrated Management System, relevant legislation and project HSEQ requirements.

About You

Experience working within a trade or construction crew in the building and construction industry.

Experience providing direction to a work crew and the ability to step up and coordinate a team independently when required.

Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification - mandatory.

Current General Construction Induction Training (White Card).

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide clear direction and support to site personnel.

Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.

Sound planning, coordination and problem-solving skills.

A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to undertake manual work where required.

A strong commitment to safety, quality and maintaining a positive site culture.

Highly regarded:

Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), or equivalent.

Builders Licence.
