Job summary

Silverchain is seeking a Home Care Worker to support older clients at home across Redfern, NSW and surrounding areas. You will provide general household help, meal prep, laundry, and personal care with dignity and respect.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 3 months in a similar role, a valid Australian driver's licence and access to an insured vehicle. CPR and First Aid training are provided, and salary packaging opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience in a similar home care role.
• Valid Australian driver's licence with access to an insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• Willing to undergo National Police check and provide COVID-19 vaccination status (recommended).

Responsibilities

• Provide general housekeeping and assist with meals, laundry and shopping.
• Support personal care such as mobility, bathing, dressing, and routine tasks.
• Assist clients to live independently at home and accompany transport to activities.
• Build positive relationships with clients and families, and escalate to a supervisor when needed.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for people who:

• Enjoy having variety in their day.
• Can build positive relationships with clients and their families.
• Care about assisting our aged community members to live independently at home for longer.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• An Open Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• 3 months or more in a similar role.

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker, you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds.
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors.
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry.
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day.
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals.
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia.
• Providing social and emotional support.
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments.
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
