Job summary

Silverchain is seeking a Care Worker to support our aged care clients in their homes across Sydney's outskirts and surrounding areas. You will perform essential home help tasks, ensure comfort, and help clients maintain independence.

The role involves personal care, medication assistance, and mobility support, with a focus on compassionate service and building client relationships. Training and career development are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months experience in a similar professional role.
• Valid Australian Driver's Licence and own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• Experience with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

Responsibilities

• Provide general home care tasks: housekeeping, bed making, cleaning, laundry, meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• Assist clients with personal care: getting in and out of bed, showering, dressing, mobility, and therapy goals.
• Support clients to take medications and transport to appointments or activities.
• Provide social and emotional support and respite for carers.

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
