Job summary

Archer Daniels Midland Company is seeking an Assistant Superintendent in Camanche, IA. This full-time exempt role assists the superintendent with day-to-day operations of the elevator/terminal and leads hourly staff in safety and operations.

The position emphasizes safety, maintenance scheduling, and continuous improvement, with responsibilities spanning training, equipment reliability, and compliance with regulations. Strong leadership and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• High School Diploma/GED with years of OJT.
• Technical Certification required or preferred.
• 2-3 years’ experience developing a team.
• Troubleshooting/problem solving experience.
• Good people skills.
• Mechanical, electrical, leadership.
• Job Hazard Analysis and safety compliance.
• Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
• Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills.
• Report writing.
• Ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Executes plans according to the work schedule. Prioritizes shift work and assigns resources.
• Ensures safety of all personnel through compliance with safety regulations and leadership in safety processes.
• Recognizes hazards and takes actions to eliminate them to protect safety, quality and environment.
• Addresses employee concerns and maintains morale on shift and within department.
• Develops employees and trains hourly labor; analyzes maintenance performance to improve efficiencies.
• Provide positive reinforcement for good results and safe performance.
• Maintains discipline and documents unusual behaviors.
• Lead and analyze preventive maintenance; coordinate schedules with Plant Superintendent.
• Collaborates with facility management to improve safety, quality, reliability and OEE.
• Stay current with industry regulations and codes; ensure policy compliance.
• Move equipment and documents and maintain cost-saving ideas.
