Job summary

SMEC in North Sydney is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join the Rail & Metro team. You’ll contribute to design, analysis, and documentation on major rail projects alongside seasoned engineers and specialists.

Our two-year GDP accelerates growth with hands-on project exposure, mentoring, and structured learning across disciplines. You’ll develop consulting skills and gain industry exposure within the SJ Group.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar design tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the delivery of real infrastructure projects by supporting design development, including drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis across areas such as roads, drainage or structures under guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand how designs are implemented on live projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and support project delivery milestones.
• Learn and apply industry standards, tools and best practices through structured development and on-the-job experience.
