Job summary

SMEC, part of the SJ Group, is seeking a recent Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the Rail & Metro team in North Sydney. You’ll be part of the two-year Graduate Development Program designed to accelerate your growth through hands-on project experience, mentoring, and structured learning.

As a Graduate, you’ll contribute to design, analysis and documentation on major rail and transport infrastructure projects, while gaining exposure to site delivery and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree (or related discipline)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D (12D or similar advantageous)

Responsibilities

• Support design development, drawings, models and technical documentation on real projects.
• Assist with engineering calculations and analysis under guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to understand implementation of designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and project delivery milestones.
• Learn and apply industry standards and best practice through structured development and on-the-job experience
