Lead Gateway Team Lead Operations Coordinator

Location
Canberra, ACT or Adelaide, SA

Working Arrangement
Onsite. Working arrangements are determined by operational requirements. Due to the nature of the work, remote work may not be available across all teams.

Clearance Required
Current TSPV Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Positive Vetting (PV).

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Gateway Team Lead Operations Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations of a critical gateway environment within a large-scale government ICT capability.

In this leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and operational effectiveness of gateway services while acting as a central coordination point between senior leadership, technical teams, and key stakeholders.

You will lead operational activities, drive service improvements, support incident investigations, and coordinate resources across multiple teams to ensure service delivery objectives are met. This position requires a strong blend of technical understanding, operational leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capability within complex and highly secure environments.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operational management of critical gateway services and supporting components.
  • Ensure service availability targets are achieved and maintained across the operational environment.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on service availability planning, design, resilience, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate service outages, security incidents, and breaches of availability targets, driving remediation and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate operational priorities, schedules, and communications across leadership teams and technical stakeholders.
  • Support senior management with timely information, reporting, and operational insights to facilitate decision-making.
  • Engage and collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Develop recommendations, influence outcomes, and gain stakeholder agreement on operational improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with security requirements, operational processes, and supporting documentation.
  • Drive service management practices and continuous improvement activities to achieve agreed service levels and operational outcomes.
  • Contribute to operational readiness and organisational resilience within a highly secure ICT environment.
Education/Certifications Required

One or more of the following certifications will be highly regarded:

  • PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer)
  • CCNP Security
  • Broadcom/Symantec Secure Web Gateway certifications
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Equivalent industry-recognised cybersecurity, networking, or service management certifications
Criteria

Desirable criteria
  1. Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.
  2. Familiarity with adjacent technologies including firewalls, DNS security, CASB, DLP, or SIEM/SOAR platforms.
  3. Understanding of enterprise identity and authentication concepts (SAML, LDAP/AD, Kerberos) as they relate to proxy and SWG deployments.
  4. Relevant certifications (e.g. PCNSE, CCNP Security, Broadcom/Symantec SWG, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent).
