Qualifications

Choofas Smokehouse & Seafood is a long established family owned restaurant located in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast with a unique relaxed vibe offering a combination of Fresh and Cooked Seafood, locally sourced where possible, American Style Meats, Australian Angus and Wagyu Steaks, Ribs, Chicken, Burgers and Salads. Our bar offers a range of Australian wines, tap beers, along with an extensive range of Rums, Bourbons, Whiskeys and Cocktails.

About the Role of Shift Supervisor

Working in a fast paced restaurant the role involves managing our reception desk, including reservations, greeting, seating and serving customers whilst managing and leading our FOH and Bar staff. From your past experience you will be demonstrating to them your extensive skills and knowledge of food and beverage table service.

The role requires an experienced professional Shift Supervisor who, whilst working under pressure understands that the priority of our business is to ensure our guests experience the highest possible standard of food and beverage service in a relaxed welcoming space.

This is a hands on role which includes taking orders, running food and drinks, clearing and resetting tables. The position is casual working up to 30 - 35 hours per week involving nights, weekends and public holidays.

Core Responsibilities

• Staff Management: Leading and motivating our FOH and Bar teams in a respectful professional manner whilst monitoring performances and assisting them to improve their skills. Training and inducting new staff members.
• Operational Leadership: Supervise shifts with pre-shift huddles, coordinate floor and kitchen flow, cash and POS management. Opening and closing the venue.
• Problem Solving: Handling guest or service issues calmly and professionally.
• Customer Service: Ensure all FOH and Bar staff have the skills to provide the best possible customer service at all times.
• FOH Rosters: Help build staff rosters.
• Quality & Safety Control: Ensure all company procedures and processes, as well as food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety rules are adhered to at all times.
• Inventory & Ordering: Monitor stock levels, receive deliveries and manage supplier items.

Key Requirements & Experience:

• 2 to 3 years experience working in a busy restaurant including table service is essential.
• Bar and POS experience is also essential.
• Proven experience in a similar role providing excellent customer service.
• The ability to stay calm under pressure, direct a team and communicate clearly.
• Excellent personal presentation and communication skills.
• The ability to learn a large menu with consistent changes in a short amount of time.
• Immediate start preferred.
