Job summary

Komatsu Australia is seeking a qualified Plant Mechanic for the Mt Thorley service team. You will diagnose, repair and maintain Komatsu heavy equipment in workshop and on site, working as part of a team or independently to ensure high safety and quality standards.

You will conduct inspections, prepare condition reports and repair recommendations, and support rental fleet management and major maintenance projects. Travel to remote sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified Plant Mechanic with proven mine site experience.
• Ability to diagnose and repair heavy mobile equipment both in workshop and in field.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer service.

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of Komatsu and customer equipment both in the workshop and in the field. Working as part of the Mt Thorley Service team, you will work as a team to service and maintain the machinery fleet, conduct machine inspections, prepare condition reports and repair recommendations, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

This role requires strong technical capability, excellent time management, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. You will also support rental fleet management, major maintenance projects, technical reporting, and administrative requirements, ensuring exceptional service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Through your commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement, you will play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability and supporting the success of our customers and the Mt Thorley Service Department.

Roster:

This position operates on a lifestyle 24/7 roster, comprising rotating day and night shifts. Flexibility and a willingness to work across the roster are essential.

You will have the ability to diagnose and repair heavy mobile equipment both in the workshop and in the field, while working effectively as part of a team or independently when required.

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills on heavy mobile equipment
• Ability to work safely and follow established procedures and job scopes
• Sound computer skills and experience with technical reporting
