The Star Sydney is seeking a Demi Chef to join our award-winning kitchen team. Reporting to the Sous Chef, you will bring energy and precision to flawless product execution in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

You will lead and train junior staff in your section, handle Japanese cuisine tasks, and help maintain high standards across all stations. If you are passionate, creative, and committed to delivering memorable dining experiences, this is your next step.

Qualifications

• Experience in fine dining or casual dining settings.
• Experience with Japanese cuisine (sushi, robata, tempura).
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher.
• Ability to work a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead the assigned section as directed by the Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff members.
• Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations
• Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements
• Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast-paced environment
