Job summary

Shangri-La Sydney is seeking a motivated Demi Chef to join Altitude Kitchen in The Rocks. You will prepare, cook and present dishes for the outlet, supporting the Chef de Partie and culinary team.

You should have at least 2 years in a high-end restaurant or 5-star hotel, hold a Certificate in Commercial Cookery, and have valid working rights. Hotel experience preferred; training in hygiene and kitchen safety provided.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a upmarket restaurant or 5-star hotel
• Experience at Commis or Demi Chef level
• Experience in hotel environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Participates in preparation, cooking and presentation of food for the outlet.
• Assists in creating new menus and dishes.
• Prepares and ensures food is prepared and served to Shangri-La Sydney standards.
• Assists in ensuring kitchen equipment is in good working order.
• Informs the Chef de Partie on repair and maintenance needs.
• Maintains highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen and related areas.

We are looking for passionate and eager individuals with at least 2 years experience within an upmarket a la carte restaurant or 5 Star Hotel operation and previous experience at a Commis or Demi Chef level.

About the role

• Participates in the preparation, cooking and presentation of food for the respective outlet.
• Participates in the creation of new menus and dishes.
• Prepares and ensures that all food is prepared and served according to the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney standards and procedures.
• Assists in ensuring that all kitchen equipment is in good working order.
• Informs the Chef de Partie on repair and maintenance needs.
• Assists in maintaining the kitchen and other related areas in highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

About You

• Holder of Certificate in Commercial Cookery
• Must have a valid working rights
• Experience in a Hotel environment or similar
