Job summary

The Star Sydney is seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join our kitchen team at The Star Sydney's dining venues. Reporting to the Sous Chef, you will contribute to flawless product execution, assist with core cooking tasks, and maintain the highest standards of safety and hygiene in a fast-paced, luxury environment.

Experience in fine dining and steak cuisine is preferred, with woodfire cooking highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in fine dining environments, with strong communication abilities.
• Woodfire cooking experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to work across stations and follow directions from the Sous Chef.

Responsibilities

• Support the assigned section as directed by the Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff members.
• Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations
• Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements
• Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast-paced environment
