The Star Sydney is seeking a Commis Chef to join our vibrant kitchen, reporting to the Sous Chef and delivering flawless product execution in a safety-conscious environment.

You will support the assigned station, assist with cooking tasks, and maintain cleanliness and hygiene. This hands-on role offers training for junior staff and opportunities to grow within our renowned fine dining and steak concepts.

Qualifications

• Experience in fine dining establishments.
• Experience with steak cuisine.
• Woodfire cooking is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with diverse cooking techniques and equipment.
• Strong communication skills and understanding of liquor laws.

Responsibilities

• Support the assigned section as directed by the Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff.
• Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations.
• Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements.
• Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast-paced environment.
