Job summary

Bankstown Sports is seeking a full-time Commis Chef to join the Greenfield Station Bistro kitchen. You’ll support breakfast through dinner service, helping senior chefs and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

You’re passionate about food, reliable and team-oriented, with a basic understanding of food safety. The role offers learning across kitchen sections and opportunities to grow within our busy venue.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen.
• Sound cooking and food preparation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good time management and organisation.
• Understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Flexible to work across rotating roster including mornings, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, measure, peel, chop and portion ingredients to ensure smooth and efficient service.
• Assist with preparation and cooking across breakfast buffet and busy lunch and dinner services.
• Work closely with the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef and wider kitchen team across preparation, cooking, plating and service.
• Ensure dishes are prepared consistently and to the required standard.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations while following food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
• Follow safe food-handling practices, correctly store ingredients and monitor freshness and expiry dates.
• Build your experience across different kitchen sections and continue developing your cooking skills under the guidance of our senior chefs.
