Job summary

RACV Hobart Hotel is seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join the kitchen brigade on a casual basis. You will report to the Head Chef and support the kitchen across Charcoal Restaurant and Cascade on Collins Bar, delivering dishes with local produce and seasonal flair.

You will work in a fast-paced team, handle varied sections, and contribute to a high standard of culinary excellence for guests and events in Hobart.

Qualifications

• Commercial Cookery Qualification - Cert III or IV.
• Experience with locally sourced and seasonal produce.
• Ability to develop menus with costings and quality in mind.
• Ability to work autonomously on a section or within a fast-paced team.
• Exposure to stock-taking, wastage control, and costings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the effective operation of the kitchen across multiple sections.
• Work across restaurant, bar, conferences, events and room service.
• Rostered shifts with a focus on peak business times including evenings and weekends.
• Support senior kitchen staff to maintain quality and consistency.
