Job summary

Stantec in Canberra is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Senior Project Manager with strong ties to the Canberra region to lead civil projects across land development, subdivision, commercial buildings and infrastructure. The role sits within the Community Development group, offering flexible work arrangements and long-term career opportunities.

You will bring a strong technical background in land development, proven leadership of engineers/technicians, and solid commercial acumen.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related field is desirable.
• Typically 7 years of experience in civil project management.
• Experience in civil projects including stormwater/roads, land development and councils.
• Experience delivering large projects and executing project plans and schedules.
• Ability to manage stakeholders in a complex environment and ensure client satisfaction.
• Experience in project programming and critical path analysis.
• Commercial acumen in resource and budget management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support projects across the full lifecycle: design management, tendering, contract administration, finance, scheduling and risk management.
• Lead project delivery to meet client and stakeholder expectations.
• Review contracts and ensure timeframes, milestones and budgets are met.
• Establish project plans with resourcing, finance, risk and quality considerations.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers and technicians where required.
• Monitor progress, costs, and changes to scope; manage delays and disruptions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and pursue new client opportunities.
• Mentor and develop team members and support career growth.
