Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Group Leader – Urban Development in Canberra to lead a skilled team, align projects with company strategy, and grow the ACT presence. The role combines leadership, client engagement, and delivery across urban development and civil infrastructure.

The successful candidate will manage talent, drive business development, and ensure quality, safety, and regulatory alignment while fostering a collaborative, results‑driven culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years’ related work, leadership, financial management and consulting experience.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably post-graduate.
• Professional registration in a related field.
• Experience in managing teams with direct line management duties.
• Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and stakeholders.
• Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Business Leader with monitoring and reporting on the performance of the teams.
• Prepare annual BC business plans.
• Drive collaboration with partner Group Leaders in other regions.
• Monitor staffing levels and shape based on workloads across regions.
• Initiate and manage business development opportunities and client relationships.
• Prepare and review proposals, variation estimates, and subconsultant submissions.
• Participate in projects as Project Manager or Project Technical Leader.
• Mentor and develop team members; oversee career development and succession planning.
• Drive quality and timely delivery, align with QSE requirements, and manage risk.
