Job summary

RMIT University is seeking a Library Concierge to deliver high-level customer service at library service points across RMIT sites. The role involves opening and closing Library spaces and undertaking physical maintenance of the collections.

The incumbent may be required to work across the Library on projects and programs of work. You will be part of a team, supporting across City, Bundoora, Brunswick, Carlton campuses and the CARM store for project work.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Strong verbal communication and rapport building skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of safe manual handling as it relates to libraries is desirable.
• Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal classification system is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide concierge services to Library users with directional queries and referrals.
• Assist users and refer to Library Services within public collections spaces.
• Ensure timely access to well-maintained physical collections.
• Contribute to shelving and retrieval of materials, including returns and holds.
• Perform group or team collection maintenance projects as directed.
• Process items from Pick lists and perform straightforward data entry.
