Overview:

Position Summary

The focus of the Library Concierge role is to deliver a high level of customer service while working on the service points of RMIT’s library sites, and to undertake physical maintenance of the collections. Staff in this role may be asked to perform physical collections tasks, or a combination of these tasks in any rostered shift. The incumbent will be required to open and close Library spaces. The role may also be required to work across the Library on projects and programs of work.

Key Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, including effective verbal communication and rapport building.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service to a diverse audience.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience and understanding of safe manual handling processes as they relate to libraries is desirable, training will be provided.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Dewey Decimal classification system for sorting library materials is desirable, training will be provided.

Note:
This role is open to RMIT students who will be enrolled to study until mid 2028.
Students may be required to work at Library sites City, Bundoora, Brunswick, Carlton campus or at the CARM store at Bundoora for project work.
