Job summary

The John Flynn College's The JCU General Store is seeking a Cafe Manager to lead daily cafe operations, provide high-quality coffee, and ensure excellent service for students and staff.

This full-time, day-shift role includes supervising a small casual team, stock management, rostering, and enforcing food safety standards in a busy campus outlet.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cafe manager in hospitality or food service.
• Barista skills and coffee/beverage service experience.
• Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Good time management, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health regulations.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare a variety of high-quality menu items and snacks for the store
• Operate the La Marzocco espresso machine to serve specialty coffee and beverages
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service to students, staff and visitors
• Maintain a clean and organised service area
• Responsible for stock management, administration, rostering and other food service operations
• Supervising a small team of casual staff

• Demonstrated experience as a cafe manager in a hospitality or food service environment
• Barista skills and experience in serving high-quality coffee and beverages
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team and adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Good time management, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations
