As Café Venue Manager, you will oversee performance, standards and day-to-day management, working hands-on with your team to drive operations, staffing, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Café Manager or similar hospitality leadership role
• Experience managing a busy, high-volume hospitality venue
• Strong operational knowledge of café/restaurant service
• Excellent people management and communication skills
• Experience with staff rostering, labour management, inventory and cost control
• Ability to remain calm and perform under high-pressure service periods
• Willingness to work on the floor during the day
• Full working rights in Australia

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in daily café operations, working alongside front-of-house and kitchen teams
• Lead and supervise service from the floor, particularly during peak trading periods
• Assist with taking orders, running food, clearing tables and other operational duties
• Support coffee and beverage preparation when necessary, subject to skills and training
• Coordinate front-of-house and back-of-house operations
• Maintain presentation, cleanliness, food safety, and service standards
• Oversee opening and closing procedures and checklists
• Lead, coach and develop a diverse hospitality team
• Prepare and manage staff rosters in line with requirements and labour budgets
• Take ownership of venue performance, sales targets and operational KPIs

Job description

As Café Venue Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance, operational standards and day-to-day management of the venue. You will be expected to work actively alongside your team, particularly during busy service periods, while maintaining oversight of staffing, customer satisfaction, financial performance and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on, operational management position where the majority of your working time will be spent actively managing and supporting café operations.

Key responsibilities

Actively participate in daily café operations, working alongside front-of-house and kitchen teams

Lead and supervise service from the floor, particularly during peak trading periods

Assist with taking orders, running food, clearing tables, customer service and other operational duties as required

Support coffee and beverage preparation when necessary, subject to relevant skills and training

Ensure smooth coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house operations

Maintain exceptional presentation, cleanliness, food safety and service standards

Oversee opening and closing procedures and ensure operational checklists are completed correctly

Lead, motivate, coach and develop a diverse hospitality team

Prepare and manage staff rosters in line with operational requirements and labour budgets

Take ownership of venue performance, sales targets and operational KPIs

About you

Previous experience as a Café Manager, Restaurant Manager, Venue Manager or similar hospitality leadership role

Demonstrated experience managing a busy, high-volume hospitality venue

Strong operational knowledge of café or restaurant service

Excellent people management, communication and problem-solving skills

Experience with staff rostering, labour management, inventory and cost control

Ability to remain calm, organised and effective during high-pressure service periods

Strong customer service skills and attention to detail

Willingness and ability to work operationally on the floor throughout the day

Availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and peak trading periods
