Job summary

Wesfarmers Industrial & Safety is seeking a hands-on Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in leading a high-performing retail team. This role focuses on driving sales growth, exceptional customer experiences, and safe, productive workplace culture.

You will coach team members, lead by example, and step into Store Manager duties when required. The role operates on a rotating roster with weekend shifts; you will participate in recruitment, onboarding, training and performance

• Proven retail leadership experience in an Assistant Store Manager, Department Manager or Team Leader role.
• Strong people leadership skills with experience coaching, developing and managing team performance.
• Demonstrated success achieving sales targets, KPIs and commercial outcomes.
• A customer-first mindset with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service and building customer relationships.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance operational execution with business performance.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales, gross profit and overall store performance to achieve business targets.
• Lead, coach and develop team members to deliver exceptional customer service and sales results.
• Build strong customer relationships and ensure a consistently outstanding customer experience.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management of team members.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, company policies, procedures and operational standards.
• Oversee day-to-day store operations, including stock management, merchandising and acting as Store Manager when required.

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in leading a high-performing retail team. This role plays a critical part in driving sales growth, delivering exceptional customer experiences, maintaining operational excellence and fostering a safe, engaged and productive workplace culture. You'll lead from the front, coach and develop team members, and step into Store Manager responsibilities when required.

This role operates on a rotating roster, so flexibility to work weekends when scheduled is required.
