Blackwoods, part of Wesfarmers, is seeking a hands-on Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in leading a high-performing retail team. You will drive sales, coach staff, and ensure a safe, organized store that delivers exceptional customer experiences.

This role operates on a rotating roster including weekends. You will oversee stock, merchandising, and on-the-floor leadership while stepping in as Store Manager when required.

Qualifications

• Proven retail leadership experience in an Assistant Store Manager, Department Manager or Team Leader role.
• Strong people leadership skills with experience coaching, developing and managing team performance.
• Customer-first mindset with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service and building customer relationships.
• Demonstrated success achieving sales targets, KPIs and commercial outcomes.

About the role

We're looking for a hands-on and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in leading a high-performing retail team. This role plays a critical part in driving sales growth, delivering exceptional customer experiences, maintaining operational excellence and fostering a safe, engaged and productive workplace culture. You'll lead from the front, coach and develop team members, and step into Store Manager responsibilities when required.

This role operates on a rotating roster, so flexibility to work weekends when scheduled is required.

What you'll be doing

We're looking for someone who:

• Proven retail leadership experience in an Assistant Store Manager, Department Manager or Team Leader role.
• Trade background, retail tooling, maintenance or DYI home expert – any experience with wide range of tools is highly regarded
• Demonstrated success achieving sales targets, KPIs and commercial outcomes.
• Strong people leadership skills with experience coaching, developing and managing team performance.
• A customer-first mindset with a proven track record of delivering exceptional service and building customer relationships.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance operational execution with business performance.
