Job summary

Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney is seeking a motivated Assistant Chief Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will support the Chief Engineer in managing maintenance activities, coordinating workflow, and training a high‑performing engineering team to ensure facilities and assets are maintained to the highest standards.

This leadership role requires calm problem solving, strong communication, and the ability to partner with other departments and external contractors.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in luxury hotels or high-end building facilities.
• Tertiary qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering is desirable.
• Experience managing large scale capex projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Engineering team in daily operations including preventive maintenance.
• Lead, mentor and train team members for efficient work practices.
• Coordinate contractors and external service providers.
• Ensure safety procedures and Amora Hotels standards are followed.
• Coordinate with other departments and respond to issues promptly.
• Support facility improvement planning and budgeting.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Chief Engineer to join our dynamic team.

You will assist the Chief Engineer in managing maintenance activities, coordinating workflow, training and supporting team members to ensure the property’s facilities, equipment, and assets are maintained to a high standard.

This is a critical leadership role suited to someone who is motivated, able to keep calm and thrives on problem-solving, enjoys building a positive, high-performing team culture.

The successful candidate will be required to

• Assist the Chief Engineer in supervising the Engineering team in daily operations, including active and preventive maintenance
• Lead, mentor, and train team members to ensure efficient work practices
• Support the coordination of contractors and external service providers
• Monitor and ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulations, and Amora Hotels standards
• Coordinate with other relevant Departments and respond to issues promptly to minimise operational impact
• Participate in planning and implementing facility improvement projects
• Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and asset records
• Contribute to budgeting, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives

What we are looking for

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as aMaintenance Supervisor in luxury hotels or high-end building facilities
• Tertiary qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering is highly desirable
• Previous experience in managing large scale capex projects
• Strong management and teamwork skills
• Strong computer skills, previous experience with a PMS – Property Management System, and Opera is desirable
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities
• A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Sound understanding of safety standards and compliance requirements
• Work in a supportive and professional working environment
