Job summary

RDO Equipment in Sydney is seeking a customer-focused Area Manager – Construction to build strong customer relationships, grow market share and deliver tailored Vermeer solutions across the territory. Based from our Sydney branch, you’ll represent Vermeer to customers in construction, infrastructure and utility industries.

You’ll work autonomously within a national network, coordinate field demonstrations, manage orders, and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Has prior sales experience in equipment, machinery, construction, or related industries.
• Understands local market conditions and customer needs.
• Demonstrates ability to leverage social media for market research, lead generation and promotion; strong digital literacy is advantageous.
• Strong communication, relationship building and negotiation skills.
• Delivers excellent customer service and follows through on commitments.
• Confident using CRM systems and computer-based sales tools.
• Knowledge of machinery resale values and trade-in assessments.
• Self-motivated, organized and comfortable working autonomously.
• Willing to travel within the territory.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long term partnerships with customers within your assigned territory.
• Promote Vermeer construction whole goods, parts and service as complete, value adding customer solutions.
• Use company sales systems and tools to document, track and manage sales activity accurately.
• Drive sales volume, market share and customer satisfaction in line with agreed targets.
• Build strong knowledge of Vermeer products, manufacturer programs and industry trends.
• Maintain awareness of competitors, local market conditions and used equipment values.
• Coordinate and conduct field demonstrations and operate machinery at customer worksites.
• Work closely with Sales Managers, Branch Managers and internal departments to progress orders.
• Ensure timely follow up, delivery coordination and professional customer handovers.
• Champion safety, company policies and RDO values in all interactions.
